"My daughter has been a student at Park Slope Music Lessons for years and it's been a fabulous experience. Piano has helped provide her with a different approach to thinking and learning and she truly enjoys it.
The instructors are fantastic and do an amazing job connecting with each student and tailoring their approach to their individual needs. Thank you so much!"

"My daughter has never sought to play music professionally, so her continued commitment to her weekly lessons for 12+ years (even with her busy high school schedule), is a testament to how much she truly enjoys being part of the Park Slope Music Lessons family!"

"My son started piano lessons with Andrew & co. when he was 4 1/2.

The Musicolor Method really made learning to read and play music possible for home at that age."

What an excellent music teacher Chris is.  He has been teaching my daughter…for the past ten months or so, and I am regularly struck by how well he communicates to her (she is 7) and explains music concepts and ideas, and demonstrates and guides her.  Chris does so in a way which she clearly finds engaging and motivating.  He is also very patient, kind and gentle with her.

"Andrew taught piano and then guitar to both my son and daughter, and he was great with both of them -- energetic, attentive and patient. He's got a good sense of humor and communicates a love of music, and he struck a good balance between finding things they enjoyed doing and making sure they were learning and progressing."

Why Start Music During Preschool?

The preschool years are one of the most important stages for brain development. A preschool music class helps children strengthen listening skills, memory, coordination, language development, creativity, and self-confidence while making learning enjoyable. Research also shows that engaging with music during early childhood supports cognitive, social, and emotional growth.

At Musicolor Method NYC, every preschool music class is designed to match each child's personality, learning style, and developmental stage.

What Makes Our Preschool Music Lessons Different?

Personalized One-on-One Lessons

Every child learns differently, which is why our preschool music lessons in NYC are tailored to your child's pace, interests, and personality. Each one-on-one lesson keeps learning fun, engaging, and rewarding while helping young children build a strong musical foundation from the very beginning.

Learning Through Play

Children learn through:

  • Singing

  • Rhythm games

  • Musical storytelling

  • Movement activities

  • Interactive instruments

  • Creative exploration

Build Confidence Before Performance

We believe confidence comes before performance. Rather than focusing on perfection, we encourage children to explore, participate, and enjoy making music. For children who show an interest in the keyboard, we gradually introduce preschool piano lessons using age-appropriate activities that make learning both fun and stress-free.

Experienced Early Childhood Music Teachers

Our instructors understand how preschool children learn and create positive, encouraging lessons that keep young students engaged. Their supportive approach helps children feel comfortable, motivated, and excited to continue learning music every week.

Instruments Preschoolers Can Explore

Children can begin learning the fundamentals of:

How the Musicolor Method Works

Music learning should feel colourful, playful, and achievable from the very first lesson.

Colours Make Music Visual

Children learn notes and musical concepts through bright colours that make music easier to see, recognise, and remember.

Movement Brings Music to Life

Through movement, rhythm activities, and playful exploration, children connect music with their bodies and develop a natural sense of beat and timing.

Patterns Build Understanding

Simple musical patterns help children recognise rhythm, steady beats, and musical structure in a fun and engaging way.

Visual Learning Creates Confidence

Visual tools connect what children see with what they hear and play, helping them understand musical ideas with greater confidence.

Transition to Traditional Music Reading

Once a strong foundation is in place, children gradually transition to traditional music notation with confidence and ease.
